How to Create a Privacy Policy in a Website Footer

Okay, got a handy little WordPress video tutorial for you today that I stumbled upon late last night!

Most of you are fully aware that I spend a lot of my spare time at the Wealthy Affiliate community – it’s the education platform that taught me the ropes with blogging, web design and online marketing!

Anyway, the coolest thing about the community is that EVERY member is given the opportunity to help other members AND to create and publish their own training there.

More often than not, the training published there covers those fiddly little website tricks that you’ve never been able to figure out – they’re like gold dust!

This particular video tutorial simply shows you how to create a privacy policy in a WordPress website footer – an extremely neat and tidy way to show Google, and your visitors, that you mean business!

What is a Privacy Policy Page?

A privacy policy basically tells the search engines (mostly Google!) that you mean business and you are taking the time to build out your website the CORRECT way.

Your Privacy Policy is the ONLY page on your website that you can have duplicate content.

Don’t have a Privacy Policy?

No problem.

You can simply copy and paste my Privacy Policy page (making sure you replace my website name with YOUR website name!).

Don’t like my example of a Privacy Policy?

Again, no problem.

Simply do a quick Google search for ‘Privacy Page Template’ and pick one you feel is the best fit for your site. Remember – there is no duplicate content penalty for this sort of thing!

  1. Hi,

Thanks for sharing that article and video. This is something I actually struggled with for quite a while, it took me ages to work out that I needed to change the template that I was using; and even then it took me a while to work out how to add the privacy policy to my footer when I had a template that allowed footer menus. Wish I had this at the time, thanks for sharing.

  2. This is great little tip.  I suppose this way I can add any pages to the menu.  Wealth Affiliate training provides outstanding training but there will always be little tips and tricks that we can learn form experiences users.  I’m still having trouble navigating the word press editor. With so many settings it can be confusing. I’ll keep your page/video bookmarked for future reference.
