These days everyone’s a photographer – go to any event and all you’ll see is a sea of smartphones held up in the air, clicking away!
Of course, most of these photos are complete gash, but some people have a natural talent for this sort of thing and their images really stand out.
Do you consider yourself a decent photographer?
Are you looking to get paid selling photos online?
Well this article will be introducing you to a service that could be right up your street – Dreamtime.
So, what is Dreamtime and how can you make money through it?
Is Dreamtime a scam or is it legit?
Let’s take a closer look…
The Dreamstime Review
What is Dreamstime?
Dreamstime is a website that concentrates on Stock Photography, and they claim to have a service that actually pays photographers to upload loyalty-free images.
They also offer a service for creators of videos and vector illustrations.
This ‘media’ is then sold by the website and they hand out a percentage of the sale to the uploaders of the work.
It was started back in 2004 and is currently owned and run by a guy named Serban Enache – the ‘company’ itself is based in America.
Sell Images at Dreamstime
Okay – so how does this baby work?
How do you sell images at Dreamstime?
First of all you have to sign up for a free contributor account, then you can start uploading your material immediately.
As a contributor, you have to comply with the rules set around your average acceptance rate. This is a system that decides how many images you are allowed to upload over a 24 hour period.
The images you submit/upload have to be at least 3MP and less than 70MP in size.
You start off as a level one contributor – you then move up through the ranks based on the amount of downloads your material receives.
There are also rather confusing earning levels which relate to each step you take up the ladder – I’m not going to go through them all here, but you can earn anywhere between $1.02 and $17 per downloaded picture.
You also have an option of handing out your images for free…but why would you want to do this???
Well, new contributors are able to boost their popularity by offering some of their image for free…after all, free stuff ALWAYS leaves the table first!
If you manage to make some money through the Dreamstime system (lucky you!), you can then withdraw your money through Paypal, Skrill, Payoneer or a regular cheque (sent to your address).
It’s worth noting that you cannot withdraw any payment unless you have verified your identity by sending them a photo of your passport/ID or driver’s license.
To be brutally honest with you – there really weren’t that many complaints floating about online regarding Dreamstime, they seem to have quite a steady ship!
The only real complaint I came across in my research was the level of the payout threshold – apparently many members find it too high, and therefore don’t manage to get paid that often.
At the time of writing this, the minimum cashout level is set at $100 (yikes!).
Is Dreamstime legit?
Well, as you can see above – there’s only one real complaint linked to the company…so that should tell you something about how they operate!
It’s a legit worldwide service that concentrates on the talent of the photographers – if you are good at what you do…you will make money there.
Of course, there is the other side of the coin…
If you are an amateur photographer who ‘thinks’ he/she is good…you could well struggle to make the payment threshold.
You see, you are competing against talent that is professional, and therefore see a lot of downloads every month – they are much higher up the ladder than you…and they probably always will be!
I personally quite like the fact that they weed out the poorer talent – if you buy an image from them you KNOW it’s a high quality image.
If you are to make real money with Dreamstime you simply have to be at a decent professional level.
