The Lazy Man’s Guide To WP Blog Rocket

The Lazy Man's Guide To WP Blog Rocket

I was reading an article the other day where the writer claimed he knew the reason behind 99% of the failed websites out there…

I couldn’t help but think this geezer was a bit of a over-confident freak but the article’s title had really caught my attention…

And it was meant to!

Turns out that blog post titles ARE the main reason behind so many website failures – and this makes perfect sense really!

When was the last time you truly spent time on crafting a title? Have you ever?

I don’t mean sitting down and juggling about a few words around a keyphrase – I’m on about spending hours carefully crafting a mind-blowing ‘LOOK AT ME!’ title!

The internet has become an awfully crowded place and I don’t see it improving any time soon ( do you? ).

You need your article titles to stand on the shoulders of surrounding search results and shine like a search beacon…otherwise success will become a very distant reality.

WP Blog Rocket Review

So this is essentially what the author of the article was marketing…or ‘affiliating’ if you want – the WP Blog Rocket!

Sounds pretty impressive really doesn’t it?

Well it is…but I don’t really see how the makers can justify charging for it…but I’ll come to that later!

The WP Blog Rocket is a pretty neat little plugin ( WordPress ) that sort of creates ‘click magnets’ out of your titles.

It claims that it is able to turn any keyword into a super-clickable piece of traffic bait with the push of a button.

It supposedly does this by using a “Smart Title algorithm”, that allows you to create titles that are effective and that can be automatically tested.

Disclaimer – The fat dude in the video below is NOT me!!!! (just a review video I pinched off YouTube…so don’t buy anything off him LOL! )

WP Blog Rocket Options

If I’m honest with you, I really didn’t want to pay out anything to get my hands on this plugin but I couldn’t get hold of a review version ( no matter how hard I tried! ).

The price level of the product determined how many WordPress websites you could use the plugin on.

I was only going to use it on one for the purpose of this review so I went for the cheap-skate option of $27 ( which isn’t really that bad when you think about it! ).

Unfortunately the marketer who designed this plugin just couldn’t resist the urge to throw a few upsells in there…which really pissed me off!

You’ve got my $27 now #### off and let me figure out how to use the bloody thing!

The Plugin Itself

Once I’d got through the rather irritating add-on offers, I was able to download the plugin and install it without a problem.

Once it was up and running I suddenly realized I was a little out of my depth…I didn’t really know where to start ( and I’m not ashamed to admit it! ).

Blog Rocket

Thankfully the plugin comes with a handful of rather impressive video tutorials to guide us through the initial steps – but I somehow overlooked them for the first several minutes!

The plugin basically takes one of your keywords and spits out about 200 relevant ( and click-hungry ) titles for your blog post!

Sounds pretty cool doesn’t it?

Well hold on to your horses there for a second cowboy…the results were a little hit-and-miss at best!

I kept on getting really stupid suggestions with piss poor grammar – much like the free blog title generators online…actually, EXACTLY like the FREE blog title generators online!

There was only one difference between them – the plugin actually gave me LESS titles than the FREE online version I use does ( 200 titles against 700! ).

Don’t get me wrong – there were some pretty cool blog title ideas spat out…but there were also some right turds on offer!

The titles also don’t take into consideration your context, so again you will have to spend time going through the titles and twisting them to meet your needs.

The Magic

But every plugin has a sort of ‘special magic’ and WP Blog Rocket is no different – it attempts to juggle about your titles AFTER the article is posted.

This is the main stand-out point for me – the thing that separates it from the free title creators online.

It gathers stats on the titles which have been clicked most frequently – if 5 titles are clicked once, and two are clicked 10 times it will stick with the higher results ( the two that are clicked more frequently! ).

It’s referred to as a A/B (split testing) method and I have to admit…it’s a pretty cool function!

Unfortunately the function keeps on working…so you are unable to lock the more popular titles in yourself.

I found that if I left my site, then returned, I often saw a less popular title on the same post…which is not ideal ( by any stretch of the imagination! ).

It’s not a bad piece of kit but I have to be honest with you – I don’t really know if it’s worth the money!

It gathers some great stats and at times it manages to provide your posts with killer titles but it still seems a little incomplete.

It’s very easy to use and set up ( after you’ve watched the videos ) so it will appeal to every level of webmaster/marketer.

Unfortunately it opts not to use cookies on visitors so there’s no way of knowing how accurate the statistics are!

The title of this post I wrote today has NOT been created by the WP Blog Rocket – it’s been spat out by a free online version.

If you are just starting out and you don’t want to spend the money I would suggest trying this site out first

In my humble opinion, it does an awesome job of providing you with blog titles without all the bells and whistles WP Blog Rocket offers!

  1. Chris,
Thanks for introducing this Blog Rocket in your article. However, I prefer to use Jaaxy as a tool to search for low competition keyword. I can form a title from the keywords. Also, there are other tools on the market as well like Semrush, Moz etc. Not sure how Blog Rocket can help unless we have first to identify the keyword. Selecting good titles is important but low competition plays a critical role in getting page 1 ranking in google as well.
Thanks for sharing this article to us about Blog Rocket.

    1. Okay Stanley…but you do understand that this is NOT a keyword tool right? Sounds like you are a little bit confused overall!
