Free Mass Email Marketing Software

No matter how much money I make online I still seem to have a ‘tight’ side to me – I think I get it from my mother’s side of the family!!!

At the end of the day I don’t like paying for things!

Sure, I have many direct debit’s that line up with my monthly marketing chores but these are what I deem ‘necessary evils’.

If I can find a free option on something I will ALWAYS take it on first!

So, today we will be looking at a selection of free mass email marketing software that I use to flood the mailbox landscape on a weekly basis.

But first we should really cover a few important facts about email marketing ( that most blog owners are scared of mentioning! )…

If you are interested in making real money online that can possibly replace or supplement your income regularly check out our #1 Recommendation HERE

Using Targeted Bulk Email Marketing Software

Email marketing is a strange, strange beast. No matter which way you look at it you’re causing some sort of intrusion.

I know, I know – “but they opted in for a free eBook on my website – I’m not intruding!”.

Well yes, I’m afraid you are!

We both know that your eBook is rehashed shit that you’ve plagiarized off someone who knows ten times more than you ever will on the subject…

Don’t we?

Email marketing is no different than meeting someone in a bar one night then turning up at their door the next morning – it’s an intrusion!

You have to be ‘alright’ with this intrusion before you take on this marketing venture. Are you?

Email marketing is also an awesome black hat marketing weapon and it always will be – are you alright with this?

What are my views on black hat marketing?

I have NOTHING whatsoever against it, I’ve witnessed many close online friends get wealthy through it many, many times!

Do I dive into the black arts myself?

I guess you’ll never know ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyway, the point I’m trying to get to here today is that the options covered below will give you a total email marketing campaign for ZERO monthly payments.

They have been recommended to me by successful white and black hat marketers who have gone out of their way to help me when I first started out in email marketing.

Let’s take a look at them…

1) MailJet

I’m starting off with Mailjet because it’s one of those rare email autoresponder services that doesn’t seem to give you that much grief ( well they haven’t give me any so far! ).

Most serious online marketers will have a huge list of emails in place before they even attempt to sign up with an emailing service.

Are all of these email addresses legally harvested?

Ha, yeah, in a perfect world!

I’d say about 80% of the top autoresponder providers out there expect you to give step-by-step details or proof on how you gathered your addresses.

Most successful marketers haven’t got time for that sort of crap – they need their stuff sent like yesterday!

Mailjet simply asked me if I had gathered my contacts in a ‘internet friendly’ way and I said yes!

They then patted me on the back, gave me a cookie and said “good boy – welcome to the club!”.

haven’t heard a peep out of them since!

There are two versions of this platform – paid and free. Take a look at what they are pricing:

  • Free for sending up to 6k emails
  • $9.95/month Bronze Premium plan for sending up to 30k emails with basic features
  • $31.95/month Crystal Premium plan for sending up to 60k emails with basic features
  • $97.49/month Silver Premium plan for sending up to 150k emails with full features
  • $259.95/month Gold Premium plan for sending up to 350k emails
  • $519.95/month Platinum Premium plan for sending up to 750k emails

You are only allowed to send to 100 contacts at one time but this is easily combated by deleting the contacts in your list and adding another 100 ( whenever you want! ).

You are basically getting 6k of emails sent professionally every month – not a bad start really is it?

( Oh, they also have a wicked email editor with templates that you can use for free as well! ).

2) MailChimp

I thought I’d include this bunch earlier on in the article because they are an extremely popular free option…

They absolutely HATE affiliate marketing though!

You have to have a pretty sneaky plan of action in place to get this bunch to send out your marketing-related mails.

They really are a royal pain in the ass at times!

But, the Forever Free Plan offered by MailChimp is a great asset for small business owners, nonprofits, or other groups that are just getting started and have a limited marketing budget.

Check out the free plan features below:

  • Email templates and designs; html and WYSIWYG
  • Integration with 100+ apps/software: Google Analytics, Salesforce, PayPal, Joomla, WordPress and more
  • Social sharing with Facebook and Twitter
  • Split A/B testing
  • RSS to email
  • Merge tags, used with a number of other features
  • List segmentation
  • Reporting and tracking
  • Newsletter archiving
  • Coupon scanner App: you can insert coupon codes into your email and scan them when people make a purchase

There’s obviously a paid plan as well but I’m only concentrating on the free options today ( you have a search bar on your browser – check it out for yourself! ).

As I mentioned above, this bunch are pretty sharp when it comes to internet marketing…

I do know of savvy marketers that have been using them for years!

It’s up to you how you go about this, but they are a good service if you stay within their guidelines ( or manage to pull the wool over their eyes! ).

3) Target Hero

Now this bunch I like, but again, you need to be a bit transparent to work with them!

The free plan they offer includes 1,000 contacts and unlimited emails. They have a strong WYSIWYG editor, image hosting, HTML and plain text emails, image hosting and real time analytics.

So far my experience with them seems to be on calm seas – they know I’m an internet marketer but they are choosing to look away,

How long this will last for is anyone’s guess?

They haven’t looked too deeply into my contacts list yet either – which is always a good thing!

The free threshold is set at 1000 subscribers – with this you get all the features I just covered above.

1000 free subscribers is pretty awesome – just import 1000 addresses, send you mail, delete the addresses and go again!

( you will need a mobile phone to sign up with this bunch – for some reason they have the added security of SMS verification to activate an account ).

4) MadMimi

I had to include this platform even though I’m no longer a fan myself – they gubbed me good and proper when they noticed the ‘work online’ related emails I was sending.

So, let that be an initial warning to you! They ain’t mad on affiliate marketers…but they are free!

The free trial limits you to using a mailing list of just 100 email addresses but as always – you can delete and re-insert however many contacts you want.

It offers a simple interface that makes it quick to send emails, color-based themes that are simple to tweak along with transaction emails, RSS to email, and other advanced tools.

Here’s the pricing layout ( Without the free plan ):

  • $10/month Basic plan for unlimited emails to 500 contacts at normal speed
  • $42/month Pro plan for unlimited emails to 10k contacts at 2x speed
  • $199/month Silver plan for unlimited emails to 50k contacts at 3x speed
  • $1,049/month Gold plan for 3.5 million emails to 350k contacts at 4x speed

It’s a really easy-to-use newbie choice and it’s impressive on every level really…without being over-complicated or too professional.

Maybe you’ll have more luck with it than I did – maybe you can get around the strict T&C’sย โ€‹I chose to ignore?

Free Mass Email Marketing Software

Email marketing is BIG business if you manage to get it right – it’s also the route of most spamming campaigns!

You have to look at yourself and decided how close to a spammer you are…

  • โ€‹How often do you send mail?
  • Would you get pissed off receiving the mail you send?
  • Are you 100% sure people actually want to receive these mails?

Is this really the marketing path YOU want to walk down?

Chances are if youโ€™re on this blog, youโ€™re looking for income you can sustain for the long haul. If this is the case, check out our number one recommendation HERE

  1. I found this post very informative. I am new to internet marketing and did not realize there are so many low-cost and free options available for email campaigns. I have not started building an email list and would like to explore some of the providers you have identified. If you had to pick one of the providers you listed to start with, which one would you choose?

  2. Hi! Thank you very much for this great article, it was really clarifying and food for thought! ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m planning to build some kind of email-list to my recently established online marketing site. Do you think I could be more effective by using one of these email marketing softwares instead of trying to make one on my own? I really don’t know how this whole email-marketing-system works so i don’t know which path should I start walking on…

Thanks for your answer in advance! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Well the easiest way to go about this is to join a site that provides marketing ‘hungry’ email contacts – Organic Prospects for example! You then need to find a service that accepts third party emails – not so easy. There is a ton of software out there though that can work for you!

If you build up your own email list then you are safe to use the options I’ve listed above. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. “I’m so glad ReachMail came into my world – it’s one thing I can count on! I get superior customer service but you have gone above and beyond to make sure my newsletters’ Rock!”

  4. Useful article Chris. As you say, MailChimp is probably the best known of those you have featured, but maybe this is because we have only heard bad things about them? It is a known fact that many more people will share a bad experience than a good one, so maybe that explains their infamy!
One question, though – which would you personally recommend?

    1. Well I don’t use any free service any longer David – I’ve moved onto TEAR (Total Email Responder ). Completely awesome piece of kit and you are in complete control of it! ๐Ÿ™‚
